"A Taste with the Golan": in the cool air of the heights, among women in white headscarves and farmers working the land, we hear from our village hosts about trailblazing women in a religious society, and learn hair-raising folk tales about the transmigration of souls.
The villagers await us with cherries and apples from the orchard, in season.
At the bakery they prepare fatayer with traditional fillings, while stuffed grape leaves and stuffed cabbage are already steaming from the cook's pot.
Mate and sage tea, and honey-dripping qatayef, will sweeten our day, and in a hands-on workshop we will learn to make a fine Syrian kunafa whose fame travels far.
