A Tour at the Alin Apiary

Visitor Centers

A tour at the Alin Apiary in Moshav Givat Yoav. The apiary was founded by David Alin in 1974.

In spring the bees gather nectar from the flowers of the golden thistle, clover and milk thistle; in summer from wild carrot and thyme flowers.

Two types of tours are available. The short tour: an explanation about the world of the bee, the importance of bees, and beekeeping in the world and in Israel, all accompanied by photographs. Participants see the process of extracting honey from the hives and taste honey. The tour lasts about an hour and costs 20 NIS per person.

The long tour: participants receive a beekeeper's suit (ages 6 and up) and set out into the world of the bees. You open the hive, look for the queen, and receive an explanation about the bee, its importance and the social structure of the hive, and how honey is made. The tour lasts an hour and a half and costs 70 NIS per participant.

In the apiary shop you can buy various kinds of honey, as well as propolis, comb honey, pollen and healing salves. All the products have kosher certification from the Katzrin rabbinate.

All tours are by prior arrangement, David Alin.
